Welcome to SudokuW. These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of the SudokuW website and all related services. By accessing or using SudokuW, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the service.

Acceptance of Terms

By accessing, browsing, or using SudokuW in any way, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Use, as well as our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy. These terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access the service.

Service Description

SudokuW is a free, browser-based Sudoku puzzle game that provides:

Single-player Sudoku puzzles in three difficulty levels (easy, medium, hard)
A daily challenge with a shared leaderboard
A journey mode with progressive difficulty levels
Real-time multiplayer Sudoku matches

Accounts & Identity

SudokuW does not require you to create an account, register, or provide any personal information. You are identified solely through an anonymous cookie-based identifier. You may optionally set a display name for leaderboards and multiplayer. You are responsible for any activity that occurs under your anonymous session. If you choose a display name, it must not impersonate another person, contain offensive or harmful language, or violate any applicable laws.

Acceptable Use

You agree to use SudokuW only for lawful purposes and in a manner that does not infringe upon or restrict anyone else's use and enjoyment of the service. You agree not to:

Use automated scripts, bots, or tools to interact with the service in a way that disrupts normal operation or gives an unfair advantage
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion of the service, its servers, or any systems connected to the service
Interfere with or disrupt the service, servers, or networks connected to the service, including through denial-of-service attacks or excessive automated requests
Manipulate or exploit the multiplayer rating system, leaderboards, or daily challenge results through cheating, collusion, or any form of fraudulent activity
Use the service to transmit any offensive, abusive, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable content through display names or any other user-facing feature
Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the service, except where permitted by applicable law
Use the service for any commercial purpose without prior written consent

Multiplayer Conduct

When participating in multiplayer games, you additionally agree to:

Play fairly and not use external solving tools, automated solvers, or any assistance that gives an unfair advantage over your opponent
Choose display names that are respectful and appropriate for a general audience
Accept that Elo ratings are calculated automatically and reflect your multiplayer performance - rating manipulation through intentional losing, collusion, or abuse of the matchmaking system is prohibited
Understand that disconnections during a game may result in a loss being recorded, and that the service is not responsible for connection issues on your end

Intellectual Property

All content, design, graphics, logos, icons, code, and the overall look and feel of SudokuW are the property of SudokuW and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Sudoku puzzles themselves are mathematical constructs and are not copyrightable; however, the specific presentation, user interface, game mechanics, and software implementation of SudokuW are proprietary. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the service without prior written permission.

User-Generated Content

The only user-generated content on SudokuW is your optional display name. By setting a display name, you grant SudokuW a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display that name on leaderboards, in multiplayer lobbies, and within game interfaces. We reserve the right to remove or modify any display name that violates these terms, without notice.

Service Availability

We strive to keep SudokuW available at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, server issues, or circumstances beyond our control. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time without prior notice. Your locally saved game progress (stored in your browser) will remain available regardless of server availability.

Disclaimer of Warranties

SudokuW is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of viruses or other harmful components. Your use of the service is at your sole risk.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, SudokuW and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of game progress, or loss of enjoyment, arising out of or in connection with your use of the service. Since SudokuW is a free service that does not collect personally identifiable information or process payments, our total liability for any claim arising from your use of the service shall not exceed zero (0) dollars or the equivalent in your local currency.

Termination

We reserve the right to restrict or terminate your access to the service at any time, without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms of Use, is harmful to other users, or is otherwise objectionable. Since the service operates through anonymous identifiers, termination may be implemented through technical measures such as blocking specific identifiers or IP addresses. Upon termination, your right to use the service ceases immediately.

Governing Law

These Terms of Use shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which SudokuW operates, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of the service shall be resolved in the competent courts of that jurisdiction.
